An exhibition of photographs of celebrities who pose naked with seafarers was opened at the Credo Bonum Gallery in Sofia. Organizer of the event is Dr. Atanas Grozdanov from the Faculty of Biology at Sofia University, in partnership with the WWF.

The provocative exhibition is part of the FISHLOVE world movement, dedicated to the protection of seas and oceans from destructive fishing practices.

Josh Brolin shocked his fanbase when he became the latest high-profile celebrity to pose completely naked for the famous FishLove campaign .

The Avengers: Infinity War star, 50, got particularly cosy with a Hawaiian Wahoo fish for the campaign, with the sea creature placed carefully over Josh’s muscular figure to protect his modesty.

Josh Brolin perched on a wooden stool and threw a smoldering look towards the camera for his saucy snap – which aims to raise awareness of marine damage caused by unsustainable fishing practices

The True Grit actor is one of several artists to strip down for the fish campaign, with Dame Judy Dench, Emilia Fox, Emma Thompson and Helena Bonham-Carter shedding their clothes for the cause.

Nicholas Röhl, co-founder of FishLove calls the series a ‘visual petition’ by some of Hollywood’s most famous faces to try and end unsustainable fishing.

Good cause: X-Files star Gillian Anderson also striped to her birthday suit to raise awareness

‘The series we’re putting together now will feature some of the most recognisable faces on the planet’ the restaurateur added.

The Fishlove campaign is to take pressure away from eating popular fish, such as cod, by encouraging the consumption of lesser-known species like sprats, herring, mackerel and gurnard.

‘The Year 2020 sounds like a dystopian Hollywood movie – yet this is the deadline set by the EU for ending overfishing of fish stocks and we are now hurtling towards it, with our governments asleep at the wheel,’ said Our Fish Programme Director Rebecca Hubbard.

‘Overfishing and climate change are putting fish stocks under pressure, and threatening the health of ocean ecosystems and food security.’

All in good fun: Emma Thompson and husband Greg Wise found the funny side of their naked snap from the campaign’s extensive celebrity back catalogue

With frequently provocative images of naked celebrities holding endangered fish species, Fishlove has become one of the most successful and significant campaigns raising awareness of how destructive fishing practices are bringing the marine environment to the brink of collapse.

Fishlove’s image of Helena Bonham-Carter with a yellowfin tuna is widely credited for having persuaded the UK Government to commit to creating the largest network of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) in the world.

Actress Gillian Anderson who posed naked with a conger eel draped round her neck to highlight the damage caused to fish stocks and ecosystems by deepsea trawling.

The exhibition at the Credo Bonum Gallery in Sofia is also officially included in the series of events dedicated to the European Day of the Sea coordinated by the European Commission. Photos can be viewed by August 27 in the Credo Bonum Gallery.
